Soul Saving Seatbelts

The life saving seatbelt is worth investigating!

A seat belt which is also known as a safety belt is a safety device designed for security against harmful movement that may result during a collision or a sudden stop. A seat belt reduces the likelihood of death or serious injury by reducing the force of secondary impacts. When in motion, occupants are traveling at the same speed as the method or means of transport. If the occupant suddenly stops or crashes, the occupant will continue at the same speed as the means of transport was going before it stopped. A seatbelt applies an opposing force to prevent further hurt, harm, and danger. Seatbelts are considered Primary Restraint Systems (PRS), because of their vital role in occupant safety.

The numbers don't lie. Seatbelts saves lives.

Seat belts were invented by English engineer George Cayley in the mid-19th century. In 1946, Dr. C. Hunter Shelden came up with the idea of retractable seat belts which was a result from his care of the high number of head injuries coming through the emergency room. Ironically, when the seatbelt option was offered in 1949, buyers did not want them and requested dealers to remove them. The feature was met with resistance. Even after years of studying fatalities which could have been prevented with the use of seatbelts, mandatory seatbelt laws in the United States began to be introduced in the 1980s out of necessity. Most consumers still refused even going to court to challenge the laws or rebelliously cutting seatbelts out of their cars.

How many times have we rejected things, people, places, ideas, concepts, or philosophies that are designed specifically to prevent and/or circumvent hurt, harm and danger? When life happens, we often feel like giving up.
